His heart skips a bit when Cassia’s voice resonates in his ear. ‘Don’t act surprised’?! People need to stop doing surprising things before they can say anything like that.
Besides, there’s nothing wrong with staying a little longer… He doesn’t have any distinctive signs that could identify him as a member of Invidia. Maybe the police might recognise him? But they have no proof. He was wearing a mask anyway.
He gives a glance at the inanimate bodies on the floor, then at the kids running away. Useless deaths by the hands of criminals. Truly the worst. However, as tempting as it might be to hold them back, he shouldn’t make himself known of them.
What then? Tell the police everything? But they won’t do anything! If they can’t even storm into a school to arrest serial killers, what’s the point of accusing *children* from the same school, even though all of it is true?!
The sound of sirens pulls him out of his angered thoughts. Right, ambulances and the police. If they are here, it’s because someone called them. That means there might be witnesses… He doesn’t *have* to do anything. He can just wait for it, and so he does.
*The EMTs approach the scene, and, eventually, so do the cops.*
EMT: We’ve got five people down here. Two are unconscious and in critical condition. The other three are dead.
*A cop picks up one of the guns without much care* Paintball guns? Jesus christ, these assholes got killed over a prank?
EMT: Isn’t that technichally evidence?
Cop: Eh, it’ll be fine. *He sets it back down haphazardly. The EMT sighs and rolls her eyes. Nearby, another cop is talking to a witness.*
Witness: They came in and started shooting… hit one of the Hope’s Peak kids right in the forehead. Some of the others… a redhead, a pink-haired girl, and a black-haired kid… they started going apeshit. Redhead was punching, pink girl had a stun gun I think, and the other one had a bow and arrow.
