//Full disclosure, I had a bit of trouble with this ask, trying to approach it from a careful angle that wasn’t offensive, but @bubhh really helped, and gave me something to springboard off of. These aren’t the exact words she wrote out, but it’s pretty close, so I felt the need to credit her.

It’s… it’s not so much a case of “Does she like me back?”. She… she’s been through a lot. I’m afraid that if I act on the feelings I have, I could hurt her. I… I know she isn’t a baby, that she shouldn’t be coddled…. hell, she’s gotten a form of closure on it all… but people don’t just get up and walk away from that sort of thing as if nothing happened.

For now, I’d prefer to err on the side of caution.
